A clump of California Poppies on the beach at Lake Temescal – Part 1 of 2

The sun was actually facing roughly into the camera on these two photos, with the lake behind the poppies creating all kinds of wonderful lighting artefacts. And although the backlighting on the leaves makes a bit of a strange effect, I'm still incredibly pleased with how these turned out.

One of my favorite things about this photo in particular is all of the little things hidden in the sand – and how the focus point means I'll never truly know :)
